Sam Knob is a prominent grassy summit in Haywood County, on the edge of the Shining Rock and Middle Prong Wilderness areas near the Blue Ridge Parkway. Reached by a popular trail off Black Balsam Road, its open, rocky top rewards hikers with sweeping panoramic views of the surrounding high peaks and balsam ranges.
