Pigeon River

Silver Bluff, NC

The Pigeon River flows through Haywood County in western North Carolina before crossing into Tennessee near the Pisgah and Cherokee National Forests. Its lower gorge along the state line is a well-known destination for whitewater rafting and kayaking. The river drains a large portion of the WNC mountains and has been the focus of long-running water-quality restoration efforts.
