Lake Lanier is a roughly 550-acre reservoir straddling the North Carolina-South Carolina line near Tryon, in the Blue Ridge escarpment of Polk County. Long a residential lake community, it is used for fishing, boating, and swimming, with a notable history that included a longtime Boy Scout camp on its shores.
