Dean, NC
Lake Emory is a roughly 200-acre reservoir on the Little Tennessee River in Macon County, just north of Franklin. Created in the 1920s by a power dam, it is a popular local spot for fishing, paddling, and birdwatching, with surrounding wetlands that draw diverse wildlife. It marks the head of a long free-flowing stretch of the Little Tennessee prized for its biodiversity.
