Hickorynut Gap

Hickory Nut Gap is a mountain pass on US 74A near Gerton, on the line between Henderson and Buncombe Counties at the top of the Hickory Nut Gorge. The gap sits on the Eastern Continental Divide and has long been a key travel route into the mountains, dating back to an early-1800s toll road through the gorge.
