Hemphill Bald sits on the southeastern edge of Great Smoky Mountains National Park in Haywood County, accessed from the Cataloochee Divide and Purchase Knob area. The grassy summit offers wide views to the south and east and carries a history of high-elevation potato and rutabaga farming from the late 1800s and early 1900s.
