The Green River flows through Henderson County, carving the dramatic Green River Gorge in the Saluda area. It is well known for whitewater paddling, with sections ranging from beginner-friendly floats to the extreme Class V Narrows that hosts the annual Green Race. The gorge's tight slots and steep drops make it one of the most celebrated paddling destinations in the Eastern U.S.
