Ferrin Knob

Buncombe County, NC

Ferrin Knob is a summit in Buncombe County, North Carolina, near Blue Ridge Parkway milepost 400 south of Asheville. A former fire tower stood at its top, reached by a steep climb from Bent Creek Gap Road, and the knob is one of the recognized peaks along the Mountains-to-Sea Trail. It also lends its name to the trio of Ferrin Knob tunnels on the Parkway.
