Coweeta Creek

Coweeta Creek is a headwater stream in Macon County's Nantahala Mountains, draining the Coweeta Hydrologic Laboratory established in the Nantahala National Forest in 1934. The site is one of the longest-running environmental research watersheds in North America, operated by the USDA Forest Service Southern Research Station and home to the Coweeta Long-Term Ecological Research program.
